All about Jasmine

I don't have any kids, but I LOVE my cats!!! They are seriously so funny at times. Jasmine in particular is always doing funny stuff. Here is some pictures of her doing what she does best, being a kitty.

She was such a BIG help when I was studying for my boards!! She would sleep on my shoulders, lay on my books and stick her butt in my face.


Jasmine also loves laundry day. No matter where you are in the house she will find you and lay on the laundry. She'll get in the laundry basket and sleep for hours. This was last week. I wasn't in the mood to deal with her so I kept piling the clothes on her, but as you can see she didn't really care. How can you stay mad at a face like that?

Cat Bite = Hospital

So the past two days have been a nightmare. The bite spread and continued to get bigger throughout the day yesterday. I ended up having to go to insta care last night where they gave me a huge shot of antibiotics, the doctor soaked my hand in soap water for about 10 minutes, proceeded to scrub my scabs off, and then didn't like how open they were and she decided to cut them open more.....not numb (if I could have punched her I would have....not the best experience). She also gave me a prescription for amoxacillin. They told me that I had to go back today for a follow up appointment, but if it got any worse I needed to go the the ER. Well fast forward to this morning and the swelling now encompasses my entire hand and I can't move my fingers. Before I went to insta care I drew a line around the area that was swollen so I could monitor its progression. You can't really tell from the picture, but my entire hand is swollen and red. I ended up going to St. Marks this morning where they gave me IV antibiotics, another prescription and a needle in my hand. I have to adminester my own antibiotitcs for the next two days. So both my hands are out of comission and I'm in dental hygiene school!!!! Luckily we are only doing anesthesia this summer and not seeing patients. So I should be getting better in the next two days....if not I'll probably have to be hospitalized......one step at a time. the doted line is the current area that is red and swollen, you can see the progression from yesterday.

Cats + Water = Pain

Our two kitties (Jasmine & Cairo) have been shedding like crazy this year!!! Chris and I decided that we have had enough and decided to give them a bath today. We started off with Cairo. She screamed like I've never heard her before. She was wiggling all over the place. We were almost done and then she decided that she was done, bit me (which she's never done before) and ran off. My hand hurts like crazy and is really swollen. Next was Jasmine. I started chasing her around the house to try to pick her up, but she kept on hissing at me and running away. Needless to say I was scared. So I eventually got her, kept her an arms length away, and put her in the tub. After she was in she amazingly was okay. After we dried them off we continued to brush them while they were drying, trying to get as much hair as possible. We got a very gross amount, and more was still in the tub.
Was this an enjoyable experience? No.
Would I do this again? Probably not.
Should Chris hold them next time? Yes.
Am I still lovable with my mutated hand? Only time will tell.
